Record exactly what the machine does
Note whether it powers on, fills, turns the drum, drains and completes a programme. Record any displayed fault code exactly rather than guessing what it means.
Safe external checks
- Confirm the door is fully closed and the controls are not locked
- Check whether the household socket has power without dismantling anything
- Look for a kinked inlet or drain hose where it is visible and accessible
- Check the manufacturer's user instructions for an accessible filter-cleaning procedure
- Note any unusual noise, smell, leak location or stage of the cycle
When to stop using it
Disconnect the appliance only if it is safe to reach the plug. Stop using it if it trips the electrics, smells of burning, smokes, leaks toward electrical parts or makes severe mechanical noises. Do not remove panels or defeat the door lock.
Prepare for the repair enquiry
Send the make, model, fault code, service postcode and a concise timeline of the problem. A photo of the rating plate or display can help when it can be taken safely.
